AA is having a pretty sweet summer sale with miles.

- Fly between the US and London for 15K miles.
- Fly between the US and Europe for 20K miles.
- Book by 5/28 at 11:59pm CT, or while supplies last.

- Valid only on flights marketed and operated by American Airlines and American Eagle flights.
Unfortunately, only Marriott points can convert to American at a decent rate. In the near future, it’s expected that Citi Premier points will be able to convert to American miles.
You can cancel AA award tickets until the time of departure with no cancel or redeposit fee.

Is the sale also on Alaska Airlines miles?

Would it make sense to buy AA miles for a better-priced conversion?
This is obviously a good deal. Domestic inventory isn’t bad, but you’re not going to find reasonable 5K itineraries on peak days.
Also a rare opportunity to get use AA miles to get a good deal in coach to Europe. If you’ve got the time, there’s strong incentive to fly TO the UK, and fly home from the Continent, saving yourself the UK’s usurious carbon tax on long haul flights. But just be aware that tickets from the UK to the Continent aren’t always so cheap, especially when you factor in a carry-on.
BTW, this offer cements AA as having the best frequent flyer program of the Big 3 US carriers. Of ALL the US airlines, only Alaska’s program is really competitive when it comes to redeeming miles — and they’re an AA partner. So far, I’ve seen no evidence this buys AA much goodwill, but it should. You would also think it would strongly incentivize people to get AA credit cards, as there’s not really any other good way to rack up AA miles (assuming you’re not spending 10s of thousands on tickets). But I’ve read nothing that shows AA credit card applications being more popular than UA or DL cards.
You are right. 9k AA miles for a last minute $ 489 ticket from SGU to PDX. Delta wanted 61k points.
I assume this does not make sense to use Amex points -1:1> Marriott -3:1> AA
Are these considered Basic Economy rules? Like no carry-on unless elite or having the citi card?
Nope, regular economy.
You can’t book a basic economy with miles. Regardless it would include a carry on.
Can you use this deal to fly from LA to NY?
Are all nonstop routes to the EU included in this sale or only select cities?
How do you find the available dates? Is there a way to see the whole month at a time to find the 5k deals? All the dates I’m plugging in are much more. And is this only for non stop?
Just click on the calendar when searching for an award. You can also toggle the calendar to nonstop.
Can you search the whole month on the app? I’m not seeing that option
Use the website.
