Scandinavian carrier SAS left Tel Aviv in March 2016, citing political instability and a lack of profitability on the route.
Since then, the airline has switched from the Star Alliance to SkyTeam and brought back business class on short-haul flights. They have also signed a codeshare agreement with El Al, which makes sense as El Al looks to join the SkyTeam Alliance.
And now, SAS announced it will launch year-round service to Tel Aviv, effective 10/26/25.
That’s great news for newly minted SAS mileage millionaires!
The flight will depart Copenhagen on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 11:35am and arrive into Tel Aviv at 5pm.
It will depart Tel Aviv on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 6pm and arrive into Copenhagen at 9:50pm.
Those flight times will make for a good connection from the US to Tel Aviv, but will require an overnight in Copenhagen on the return.
Either way, it’s always good to have more options for flights to the Holy Land!
Will you fly on SAS to Israel?

Any idea how many sas miles it would cost to fly Tel Aviv to New York?
Here’s to hoping they’ll let us use sas miles to book elal
currently pricing at 48,000 in economy including nonstop on delta.
Will they resume offering kosher meals?
Great news for me

Why not? Flew them back in the late 90s with a full day stopover in Copenhagen. My lasting impression was that some passengers on the flight to Newark were so drunk that some of them passed out in the aisle!
Nice, but not until 10/26? That’s in a long time!
10/26/2025
Unfortunatly passengers flying EWR to CPH on SAS won’t have access to the excellent kosher food that SAS lounge provides for EL AL customers since that flight departs 5pm and the Kosher food (from Seasons and Very Juice) starts around 7pm for the 9pm EL AL flight
write to SAS to make it avail for their own customers
Since it is EWR the 5PM flight is likely to leave at 10PM
Regardless, the food in the lounge is for Elal passengers only. I was there and saw an elal agent standing by the kosher food confirming with those taking food that they are flying elal.
I hope the hooties don’t read this. It seems to me they have a auto launcher on each DD post under isreal flights
Maybe someone can reach out to them and ask them to add Kosher food.
Now that they are going to Israel, shouldn’t they have a KSML option?
I will fly with SAS. Only a question if elal have flights to CPH and if it’s will be selled connected flights from LY-SAS it’s will give me more options
cant wait for their next kids fly free promotion….
