What’s the cancellation policy?
The lesser of $100 or the fees paid.
Not quite as good a deal as it used to be, as Virgin seems to have raised their taxes/fees recently. A few months ago, I paid only about $55 one way in taxes/fees from JFK to LHR. Now it’s $76. On the roundtrip — due to the UK’s nasty long-haul “carbon tax” — the taxes/fees are $292.
Personally, I’ve been flying Virgin eastbound across the Pond and then finding an excuse to go to the Continent where I can pay much lower taxes to return. I’d note AA currently has a 20,000 Europe award sale that would make sense for some to return on. Of course, if you’re paying less than 8000 Chase points to London roundtrip, you may be willing to give them the $292.
Yup, that’s a great sale as well:

Anyway this can work for Israel Travel ?
Fly to Israel from London.
You may have to manage a self transfer between airports (Luton/Heathrow/Gatwick; wizz/ israir/ElAl, or Austrian/brussels if available) to get the lowest price, with enough passengers you can save some money but it is a lot of tircha. If you fly with elal from heathrow it might be simpler but not much saving probably. Feel free to correct me everybody.
Not seeing it for any dates and taxes etc. seems to be high
It’s usually possible to find the very cheap Virgin award tickets from JFK on their most undesirable flight times. I think they fly 6x a day from JFK, and the flight that leaves after 11 pm seems to usually have seats. It’s weird, because a flight leaving a few hours earlier can be 20x more miles! It seems very hit or miss — and mostly misses — if you’re looking for the cheap Virgin coach award from their other USA destinations. As I mentioned earlier, they seem to have raised their award fees again, but if you’re paying 6000 miles or less each way, it’s going to be hard to find a cheaper way across the Pond.
Thanks but not seeing any dates for this deal? Tried July, then Aug and Sept
Similar question as above re EY. Would it be silly to book this and then a separate ticket from London to tlv? Would u have to collect bags yourself in London?
You can book a separate ticket.
Virgin and El Al can interline your bags so you don’t have to recheck them.
Excuse my ignorance please but how does one do this? And can the flights be many hours apart?
Just show the checkin agents your tickets and ask to have the bags checked through.
I’m not aware of a hard deadline.
Can you buy an extra seat by putting in Extraseat with your last name?
Should work.
Could I book from a ticket from my brother’s account dose virgen make problems
No issues, did it many times
When I try to search for any award flights, their search engine just tells me that the destination or the departure City is not found. Doesn’t matter what city I put in. I’m literally putting in the ones that they say as the example. I feel like I remember there being something screwy about their award search before, but I haven’t used it for a long time so I’m probably missing something obvious, but has anyone else had this issue?
It says, oops we don’t travel to any destinations that match those details.
Doh, nevermind. Of course, right after posting that I discovered that I could do a cash search and then after I did that change into points and it worked.
Have a ton of VA points. Wonder what best trips out of London could be? Thinking of taking advantage of this from SFO but visiting London as an identifiably Jewish person does not seem great to do these days.
I am confused, can I fly with 3840 points only, or do I need to pay the fees explained in the example which totals $365?
anything I can do that my Chase transfer didn’t go instantly?
I have a ticket for July, can I cancel and rebook?
I actually chatted with them online yesterday regarding this. I found my same itinerary for cheaper price, and showed it to the agent. He refunded me the difference in points without canceling and rebooking.
