I visited Iceland more than a decade ago, just as tourism was taking off. We liked our visit, but I would not necessarily recommend the destination these days except to nature lovers for whom cost is no object. A bit like going to Hawaii or Alaska, getting an affordable airfare to Iceland is probably the least of your travel worries. The biggest problem is expense on the ground — particularly lodging. It’s just very expensive in Iceland these days: think Alaska, and maybe add 50%. The food (assuming you’re willing to eat it) isn’t great, and is also very expensive. For even a tiny automatic transmission car rental, you’re looking at about $600/week.
There were plenty of points options and Airbnbs.
For kosher observant travelers, the food cost and taste is irrelevant. We brought food from the US.
There were various car deals available if you shopped around.
Or fly from Pittsburgh 🙂
Not on Delta…
part 2: which airline from ICELAND to TLV? Hours of dept – arrival from and to TLV?
a little random but for those who live in Monsey, Monroe or are who who spend time in the catskills in the summer there are direct flights from Stewart Intl airport (swf) to Iceland (kef) on fly play! i have never flown with them or from swf and don’t know anyone who has so curious if anyone has any experience in either?
and kef to swf
